BASC responds to Natural England's stance on the issue

BASC has laid down a marker with the Government’s advisor on the natural environment after Natural England stated that, in England, “it is currently unlawful to control [hooded crows] under the General Licences”.

Christopher Graffius, BASC’s director of communications, told Shooting Times that his association would regard any attempt to prosecute one of its members for trapping a hooded crow as “an abuse of process”, and that BASC would actively support any member so accused.

BASC’s strong statement comes after Natural England recently was forced to retain the existing wording of the General Licences with the position on crows unaltered from previous years.
