Key organisations meet Assembly Members to discuss gamebird code
Game rearing in Wales was under discussion recently at a meeting of rural organisations and Welsh Assembly Members that was chaired by the Countryside Alliance.
The meeting, sponsored by Mick Bates AM (Lib Dems), Brynle Williams AM (Welsh Conservative) and Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM (Plaid Cymru), was held at the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff on 12 May and was attended by representatives of the Country Land & Business Association, the Game Farmers Association (GFA), the National Gamekeepers Organisation (NGO), the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT), the Farmers Union of Wales and the National Farmers Union.
At the meeting, Charles Nodder of the NGO and the GFA, and Chris Davis of the GWCT gave a presentation on the rearing of gamebirds in the light of the recent consultation on the draft Code on the Welfare of Gamebirds Reared for Sporting Purposes in Wales.
