Attempts to stop a badger cull in Wales was recently thrown out by the High Court
The High Court recently threw out attempts to stop a badger cull to combat bovine TB in Wales, leading to increased pressure on politicians in England to support a similar cull after the General Election.
On 16 April, the High Court threw out a challenge by the Badger Trust, seeking to stop a cull taking place in the next few months in Pembrokeshire. Proposals allowing English farmers to cull infected badgers will be placed before the next DEFRA secretary, whichever political party wins power on 6 May. DEFRA secretary Hilary Benn refused to sanction a similar badger cull in England last year.
