Newcomers will get a taste of hunting, free of charge, when hunts across the country open their doors

Hunts will encourage new enthusiasts to the sport next month for the Countryside Alliance’s Hunting Newcomers’ Week, which is taking place from 10 to 17 October.

Newcomers will get a taste of hunting, free of charge, when hunts across the country open their doors to those with an interest in finding out more about the sport. It is hoped that the week will educate more people about the way hunts work and the role they play in the British countryside.

The Countryside Alliance’s Chloe Finch said: “With repeal a distinct possibility, hunting must continue to sell itself to a wider audience. Estimates suggest there has been an 11 per cent rise in support for hunts since the 2004 Hunting Act came into place. Hunting Newcomers’ Week is designed to encourage further support for country sports, meaning that hunting will remain an accessible activity available to all for years to come.”
