Gamefarmers and shooters wanting to find out more about the proposed 16p poult tax are being urged to attend one of the the last remaining DEFRA regional workshops
Gamefarmers and shooters are being urged by the Game FarmersAssociation (GFA) to attend one of the last few remaining DEFRA roadshows across England to find out more about the proposed 16p poult tax and new independent body for animal health.
The public meetings form part of the Governments consultation on Responsibility and Cost Sharing, which ends on 30 June. The last three meetings will be held at Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, on 5 June, The Four Alls Country Inn, in Market Drayton, Shropshire, on 8 June and Stourport Manor Hotel, in Stourporton-Severn, Worcestershire, on 9 June.
The Game Farmers Association acknowledged that this was the busiest period of the year for game rearers, but urged anyone who could find the time and wanted to know more to attend one of the last few DEFRA regional workshops. A spokesman told Shooting Times: We are already in touch with DEFRA at national level, but it is always helpful when officials meet practical people from the grass roots when they are out and about.
If you would like to attend any of the meetings, contact DEFRA, tel 020 7238 4953, to register.
