Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), in partnership with the Greenland Whitefronted Goose Study, held a two-day conference starting on 24 February to bring together experts from Greenland, Iceland, Ireland and the UK (the four key countries in the migratory life cycle of the species) to develop an international action plan to help recover the birds population.
Conference chairman Professor Colin Galbraith said: Our aim was to assess the current situation, identify the causes of the decline and to agree on the necessary action.
