FACE flies the flag for hunters

European farming organisation Copa-Cogeca and the Federation of Associations for Hunting and Conservation of the EU (FACE) signed a memorandum of understanding on 12 February.

The agreement will reinforce co-operation in land management and environmental conservation.

FACE’s Gilbert de Turckheim said: “This is indeed a very significant event for both organisations. For generations, hunters and farmers have been key players committed to preserving rural areas and to the sustainable use of our natural resources. Year round, hunters, in collaboration with farmers, strive to maintain and improve habitats as a means to ensure the continuity of their activity and to conserve wildlife.”

Jean-Michel Lemétayer, president of Copa-Cogeca, said: “Both agriculture and hunting are of major importance to a vibrant rural Europe. Today’s agreement will allow us to join hands and work towards our common goal of maintaining sustainability in our countryside.”
