Public consultations on the issue revealed convincing arguments from both sides of the debate

The Scottish Government has announced that it is to wait for the results of research being carried out by DEFRA into the use of electric collars for dogs before it decides whether to impose a ban on their use
A spokesman for the Scottish Governments Animal Health and Welfare department said that public consultations on the issue had revealed convincing arguments from both sides of the debate. He added that the decision on the ban was one that the Scottish Government was reluctant to make before reviewing the results of DEFRAs in-depth study, expected to be completed in 2010.
