Moors for the Future has been nominated as Best Environment Project for a National Lottery Award.

Moors for the Future has been nominated as Best Environment Project for a National Lottery Award.

Moors for the Future, based at Edale in the Peak District National Park, restores peatlands that have suffered years of pollution and erosion.

Through a series of conservation and educational initiatives, the project aims to raise awareness of the moors, encourage responsible use of the landscape, restore and conserve important moorland resources and develop expertise on how to protect the moors for the future.

A spokesman said: "We could be in with the chance of winning £2,000. Please take a minute to vote for us. Every vote counts so please help us to get as many as we can. The three projects with the most votes will progress into the final round."

Other nominations in the same category include Hackney City Farm, Natural Talent Apprenticeship Scheme and Nell Bank Outdoor Education Centre.

For information on how to cast your vote, visit www.moorsforthefuture.org.uk or www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk, or tel 0845 386 5776.

Voting closes at midday on 4 July.
