Sporting cartoonist Bryn Parry and his wife, Emma, have set up a new charity called Help for Heroes (H4H) to raise money for injured servicemen.

H4H was launched at the start of the pheasant season and raised more than £800,000 in its first five weeks.

The charity aims to raise £8million.

Bryn said: "What is H4H all about? It's about blokes. It's about Derri, a rugby player who lost both his legs, it's about Carl, whose jaw is wired up so he has to drink through a straw. They are just blokes but they are our blokes, they are our heroes. And we want to help our heroes."

H4H's first task is to build a swimming pool and gym at the Joint Services Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court, near Dorking, in Surrey, to help rehabilitate injured servicemen and women.

National Organisation of Beaters and Pickers-Up founder Mark Elliott is also helping Bryn to raise money by taking part in the Big Battlefield bike ride across Normandy. Mark said: "H4H has had an incredible beginning but it's just a start. We need everyone to dig deep to raise money!"
