Q) My ferrets constantly tip their water bowl and in order to stop this I fastened it to the floor. Now, however, they just fill it with bedding material and shavings. Will they drink from a rabbit water bottle which I can get from a pet shop? T. BATTERSBY By email
A) You will be amazed how quickly ferrets will learn to drink from a water bottle. This is my preferred method of giving them water and the bottle can be as large or small as you need it to be. From small kits to ageing ferrets, whenever a bottle is positioned in their hutch or run, it is only a matter of moments before they start to lick the ball in the spout for fresh water. Of course, you can still keep the bowl as they obviously enjoy playing in water, but there must be ample fresh clean water for them to drink at all times.
