Q) Do we have to use a lead-free alternative in order to shoot duck and geese on stubbles? We shoot partridges on the stubbles using lead shot, so why are we not then also allowed to use it on wildfowl inthe same area? J. RYALL By email
A) The law in England and Wales states that lead shot is banned on all foreshores, certain Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs), and for the shootingof all duck, geese, coots and “waterhens”, meaning moorhens.
